In recent years, hole trays have been widely used for commercial seedling cultivation of various vegetables, vegetables and flowers, and now it is more recommended to use hole trays for seedling cultivation.

The advantages of using hole plate to raise seedlings are: easy to standardize management, low cost, high seedling rate, save seedling site, prevent the spread of soil diseases, etc.

Seedling substrate should be loose, good air permeability, clean and disease-free. Common substrates include coconut bran, peat, perlite, vermiculite, etc., which can be used alone or mixed.

Before sowing, the matrix should be fully moistened and dispersed. The general humidity is 65%. Holding the matrix with your hand slightly exudes water, releasing it will form a group, but gently touching the matrix will disperse.

The prepared matrix is evenly loaded into the cave plate. It is noted that the edge and corner of the cave plate are easy to fill the matrix insufficient, the base quality is less and the hole drying speed is faster, resulting in uneven water management.

After scraping the matrix with wooden strips, stack 7 to 10 hole plates with the matrix installed together, press the top hole plate with both hands and press down. A hole punch can also be used to punch holes. The hole depth of the hole punch is uniform but the speed is slow.

The depth of drilling and sowing depth should be consistent, the larger the seed is, the deeper the sowing depth will be. According to the actual situation, each hole can be seeded with 1 grain at most.

After sowing, cover the surface with substrate. Be sure to scrape the substrate flat. Do not let the hole substrate connect, or the roots of the plant will grow into other holes.

After sowing, the substrate should be watered thoroughly, generally 10L water per square meter, otherwise it will affect the germination rate of the seeds. If large - scale seedling, can choose the corresponding sowing line.

Plant water management is usually delimited by cotyledon expansion.

Before cotyledon expansion, the part of the matrix under the hole holes should be kept moist, and the surface of the matrix should be kept alternately dry and wet. After cotyledon development, the dry and wet degree of substrate should be controlled according to environmental changes and plant growth. Before watering, a part of the matrix can be dug up to observe the humidity, and experienced people can judge the dry and wet conditions according to the weight of the hole disc.

When the dry substrate cannot be watered thoroughly at one time, it can be watered repeatedly to ensure that the substrate is watered thoroughly. To determine whether the matrix is thoroughly poured, it can be observed whether the holes at the bottom of the hole disk are dripping. When the matrix is thoroughly poured, excess water will oose from the bottom due to the action of gravity.

Generally sunny days before 10 a.m., the substrate will be poured thoroughly, according to the dry and wet conditions in the afternoon, appropriate to add fertilizer water. But we should pay special attention to the surrounding of each seedling bed, need to add more fertilizer water, due to ventilation, light and other reasons caused by water loss around the plants faster.

When the weather turns cloudy, water evaporates more slowly, and only a drier substrate can be irrigated.
